Wealth Traits Financial Planners – home

Hello, I'm Abubakr Siddique

CFP® professional, SEBI-registered Investment Adviser and student of the human mind. I help people make better money decisions by understanding both the numbers and the person behind them.

Where my work really began: at home

I was raised by a single mother. Long before I knew anything about financial planning, I watched her carry every money decision on her own.

I saw the anxiety of stretching one income to cover everything, and the quiet insecurity of having no one to fall back on. Alongside it, I saw an ambition for her children that never wavered.

Those years taught me that behind every budget, policy and investment there is a person, with fears and hopes the numbers alone don't capture.

My path

My early career was in the food processing industry, including overseas experience. Following India's economic liberalisation, I returned home and ventured into business. After experiencing financial losses in business and investments, I recognised a significant gap in financial services: advice was largely product-centric rather than driven by customer needs and product suitability. This realisation inspired me to pursue a career in financial services, with a focus on putting clients' interests first.

Working with investors, I saw how often emotion, not information, drove their decisions. In 2004, I enrolled a postgraduate programme in psychology to understand the behaviour behind money. In 2009, I earned my CFP® certification through FPSB India, and since then I have focused on fee-only financial planning.

Today, as a SEBI-registered Investment Adviser, I am paid only by my clients and earn nothing from the products they choose.

Since financial habits and behaviours are shaped by our individual traits, Wealth Traits reflects my belief that effective financial planning should be tailored to each person's unique circumstances, priorities and aspirations.

Why Doctors and Single Parents

Single parents: this one is personal. When I sit with a single parent, I often hear the questions my mother lived with. Is one income enough? What happens to my children if something happens to me? Am I doing enough for their future? Good planning turns those worries into clear answers, in a calm, judgement-free conversation.

Doctors: a different set of pressures. A late start after years of training, loans for education and practice, income from several sources, and very little time to plan. With no pension in private practice, their retirement depends entirely on what they build.

My psychology background shapes how I listen and plan, so every conversation is calm and judgement-free. I don't provide counselling or therapy, and where someone would benefit from professional support, I'll suggest they seek it.
